WICT Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Wins Most Improved Chapter Award for 2019

The Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of WICT is celebrating after having been among the 2019 Chapter honorees for their efforts in chapter growth and development for Women in Cable Telecommunications. The Greater Pittsburgh Chapter received this honor for their ability to increase chapter membership by over 100% of their goal in 2019, as well as their ability to retain 98% of their existing membership base through the effectiveness of their chapter programming. The chapter also received 2nd place for the Best Programming Chapter of the Year in 2019 as well.

The most improved chapter award is 1 of 7 awards given by WICT National in which all local chapters across the world submit nominations every year.  The award is established to salute the WICT chapter that demonstrates their ability to effectively improve chapter growth and development from the previous year.

This year, the Greater Pittsburgh chapter launched a scholarship program to honor one member of the local WICT Chapter.  The scholarship was an all-expense paid trip to the 2019 WICT Annual Leadership Conference in NYC., (a $3,500 value).  In order to be considered for this award, candidates had to be a current member in good standing. In addition, they must have demonstrated leadership, character and integrity in their participation in the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter for the prior 6 months, as well as being committed to their continued membership in the WICT organization in 2020.  Submissions process for the scholarship included essays answering questions on events that members have attended and participated in, responding to what leadership means to them and how this scholarship will help the grow as a leader now and in the future.

“We are committed to the development of our members by launching a mentorship program to transform their careers.  We have shown our charge to developing women leaders by offering a scholarship for attendance at the annual conference.   It is apparent that this chapter is engaged in the future of this industry and of WICT!”
